Lot 2828
Constantine II, as Caesar, 316-337. Follis (Bronze, 18 mm, 3.47 g, 6 h), Rome, circa 320. CONSTANTINVS IVN NOB C Laureate, draped and cuirassed bust of Constantine II to right. Rev. VIRTV-S AVGG / P - R / R Q Campgate with open doors and four turrets. RIC 193 var. (unlisted officina). Very rare. Somewhat rough, otherwise, good very fine.

From the collection of Dr. L. Ramskold, formed since 1969.

The dot in the doorway is set too low to be the center mark for the engraver's compass, so it appears to be an intentional part of the design.
